Arthur William (Bill) Rouzie

ABOUT THE ARTIST   

A.W. (Bill) Rouzie has been a painter of mariner themes since his teenage years. His service in the US Coast Guard during World War II sharpened his marine interests amd subsequently shaped his artistic style. Bill studied architecture at M.I.T., graduating in 1954. The linear influence and perspective of the architecture field further influenced Bill’s artistic style.

In addition to marine water colors, Bill’s body of artistic work includes images from his travel to the Greek Islands , Turkey , Southern Europe, the South Pacific, Mexico and the Pacific Northwest . His recent trips have been summarized with ink and watercolor sketches, often reproduced as greeting cards.  

Bill is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, and a signature member of the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA). His work has been shown coast to coast in museums hosting ASMA national exhibits and his work is in the permanent collection of the Coos Bay Art Museum . Additional pieces of Bill’s work can be seen at the Rental Sales Gallery at the Portland Art Museum and in various other private venues around the northwest.
